Hammock chairs should hang from a ceiling or overhead support structure.  It’s what makes the hammock a hammock.

The chairs are made of rope or fabric or a combination.  It is more fun to get a chair that can swivel continuously.  The gentle movement of the hammock is relaxing and fun.  Many people can’t resist wanting to go in circles.

Some hammock chairs can fit two or more people.  They are a fun addition to a patio or deck.

There are substitute hammock chairs available.  They often have a steel frame and you may have two hammock chairs side by side with a console in the middle.  Many of these chairs are very comfortable.  They are not true hammocks and should be avoided if you are looking for authenticity.
